'Absolutely amazing' Open Evening

Ysgol Emrys ap Iwan put on a great show for Year 6 learners visiting the school on Open Evening.

The various departments set out to show the parents and learners what Ysgol Emrys ap Iwan has to offer.

Characters from Harry Potter mingled with other literary characters in the English Department; there was also a flaming performance in the Science Department; visitors to the History Department experienced a 1920s speakeasy complete with moonshine, gangsters and free popcorn, and a photo-booth in the Languages Department proved popular.  Along with opportunities for parents and learners to talk to staff, current Ysgol Emrys ap Iwan learners were on hand to guide the visitors around the school and to talk about their experiences in lessons at the school.

Rachel Jones tweeted “It was a really great open evening, very interactive and fun! I now have one very excited daughter who can't wait to join Emrys ap Iwan!”

Lee Cummins, Headteacher at Ysgol Emrys ap Iwan said: “It was great for the school to be so full and to have so many excited young people visiting us and excited young people wanting to share what is good about their school.  It really was one of the most positive evenings I have had while being Headteacher at the school.”

Anyone who missed the Open Evening and would like to visit the school can make an appointment to look around at any time.
