Engage@Emrys
Overview of activities - Spring term 2019
A look back at the opportunities for extended learning beyond the classroom with the Engage@Emrys programme during the Spring term 2019.
Extra-curricular
We believe that learning should be an exciting and enriching experience for all learners, and that learning continues beyond the classroom. We aim to create as many opportunities as possible for learners to extend their learning with the Engage@Emrys programme.
Sporting Activities
Sporting activities are seen as a vital component of education. We encourage learners to take part in a variety of rewarding and challenging sports within their PE lessons as a means of improving levels of fitness and developing personal and social skills, and to take part in after school clubs as well as playing competitively in a large number of school teams.
Facilities within the school are excellent with the use of a sports hall, swimming pool, fitness suite, gym, extensive playing fields and floodlit all-weather pitch.
Learners have been successful in a range of sports, many going on to represent Conwy County and Welsh national squads.
School Clubs
Learners benefit from having access to a wide range of after school clubs and classes. These include activities like dance, reading café, computer programming and robotics. The range of clubs changes regularly and the emphasis is on giving as many learners as possible the opportunity to participate.
There are also opportunities to gain help and support in school subjects, particularly at KS4. The school is open to learners at all times from 8.30am to 4.30pm when they can work independently in the Library.
