Sixth Form
It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to Ysgol Emrys ap Iwan Sixth Form.
The school has a well-proven track record of helping students to succeed at A Level, but the key to that success is your own determination and hard work. Experience has shown that those students who do well are the ones who start Year 12 with a positive attitude to do their very best, and who then work steadily throughout Years 12 and 13. Even if your experience at GCSE was of success coming easily, you will quickly notice that hard work is essential for you to achieve your potential at A Level. That steady and consistent approach to work needs to start right at the beginning of Year 12.
In addition to your timetabled courses, the Sixth Form will also provide you with opportunities to develop wider skills through the Welsh Baccalaureate Qualification or other aspects of school life such as sport, music, drama and work experience.
This handbook is not intended to be a list of do’s and don’ts, but is merely a compilation of some points which often need specific clarification for the Sixth Form.
We hope that you will enjoy your time in Emrys Sixth Form and make significant progress both as a learner and a young adult. It is our aim that learners flourish and achieve their full potential.
Best wishes for a successful Sixth Form experience.

Pastoral Leader, Key Stage 5
