Word Millionaires
Six learners have read over a million words each since September.
Learners are encouraged to use the Accelerated Reader programme to encourage reading and improve literacy skills. Moli Birkinshaw, Isaac Miller, Emily Hull, Samuel Wilson, Katie Brady and Courtney Poole have all reached the million word milestone through the programme by reading books and taking a quiz on each book.
Ms Anne Hickey, the Literacy Intervention Co-ordinator, said: “These learners should be really proud of their achievement. They can come to The Library at various points in the day to take out a new book or take a quiz. Obviously they have taken full advantage of this and succeeded in reaching this point.”
